Koko—The 19 Battalion of the Nigerian Army, Koko, Delta State, has said that the military, particularly the Operation Crocodile Smile in the Niger Delta region, was not only about war alone but also about hygiene and cleanliness
to ensure a healthy and safe environment in localities across the country, particularly in the region, where the military operates.
Its Commanding Officer, Lt. Col. Anthony Ozemhoya, who disclosed in Koko, Warri North Local Government Area of the state, said, “The army, particularly the Operation Crocodile Smile is not only about fighting insurgents, it is also about ensuring a decent and hygenic environment and providing health care assistance to our civilian neighbours, particularly the Niger Delta region.”
He spoke during the clearing of debris from gutters in the area, in which he personally took part, noting that: “Military is not only about fighting insurgents and oil pipeline vandalism. The military is not there to break bones all the time. It is also there to mend bones and cleanse up the country. It is a national assignment that is also carried out by us.
“My Battalion has been deeply involved in this (cleansing) and we have, in the process, arrested a fake Lt. Colonel right in my office here in Koko and another fake naval officer along Abraka road, here in the state.
”In this independence anniversary, Nigerians should reflect on what individuals have contributed towards the unity and wellbeing of the country while it is the duty of the military to ensure the cohesion of the country, which include the training of soldiers on amphibious techniques to handle militancy in the coastal areas.”
