Ikeja Electric cuts supply to Agege, others over erosion threat

LAGOS—THE Police High Command, yesterday, said it has concluded plans to establish a police division in  communities around the border between Lagos and Ogun States, with a view to curbing the activities of kidnappers.

The decision is coming on the heels of cases of kidnappings in the area located around the riverine areas.
Recall that four landlords were last week in one of the communities in Isheri North area of Lagos state.
This is just as inadequate manpower and logistics by the Ogun state Police command has been blamed on the increase of criminal activities, particularly kidnappings in the communities.
The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in-charge of Zone 2, Abdulmajid Ali, disclosed  that the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris would be sending some patrol vehicles which would be used to carry out surveillance of the area.
Ali, who said this while decorating two newly-promoted Deputy Commissioners of Police, lamented that the Ogun State Police Command was bedevilled by inadequate manpower.
He disclosed that police officers would be posted  from the zone to the communities with a view to having police presence.
He said: “In as much as we sympathise with the families of the abducted men, I want to assure them  that we are doing everything possible to secure their release.
“The IGP is making arrangement to set up platforms within that area so as  to checkmate incessant attacks by  kidnappers.”
