Samsung Vice Chairman Jay Y. Lee Has Received A 5-Year Jail Sentence In South Korea

Jay Y. Lee, vice chairman and head of Samsung Group, has received a 5-year jail sentence in South Korea due to instances of bribery with the prior administration.
His sentence stems from a long scandal that eventually brought down South Korea's former president, Park Geun-hye.
His trial took place over the past six months, with Lee being held on charges of bribery since February. A court in Seoul found him guilty of bribery, hiding assets, embezzlement, and perjury.
Song Wu-cheol, one of his lawyers, says Lee will be appealing the decision in a higher court. He considers the lower court's decision "unacceptable."
