A retired military colonel Joe Achuzia has warned that nothing should happen to the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu.
Achuzia while speaking the The Sun said it will be a sorry day for the Nigerian government if anything happens to the IPOB leader.
The retired colonel and a Biafra warlord also called for the immediate and unconditional release of Kanu and all his co-accused from Kuje Prison and other holding facilities across Nigeria.
"Why we say unconditionally is that there should be no condition attached to his release, he has the right to be freed under the Nigerian law, and a competent court of law has already asked several times that he should be released," Achizia said.
“This issue of Kanu is very intriguing. If something happens to him while in custody, the government would have created a matter and an indelible black mark.
“He should be released unconditionally and given the opportunity to defend himself. If something should happen, it will be a sorry day for the country," he added.
Kanu was arrested by officials of the Department of State Service in Lagos upon his return from the United Kingdom on October 14, 2015.
He is currently facing trial bordering on treasonable felony, mismanagement of an unlawful society and concealing of goods inside a container alongside three others.
