Drone Delivery Network Will Be Established In Switzerland Next Month

The first ongoing autonomous drone delivery network will be established in Switzerland next month, logistics company Matternet has announced. Using
drones, lab samples (i.e. for blood tests) will be sent between labs and medical facilities.
Matternet has just revealed the Matternet Station, a postbox that can be installed on rooftops or on the ground to receive deliveries from drones. Medical items can be delivered to hospitals using this system within 30 minutes.
The company has partnered with Swiss Post to operate the network.
Back in March, Matternet (a US company) received authorization from the Swiss government to operate its autonomous drones over densely populated areas.
These types of diagnostics that need to be transported are urgent in nature and they are on demand. They have to wait for a courier, sometimes they get taxis to do this type of thing — and when you have a system like this, that is autonomous and reliable, it completely transforms operations.- Andreas Raptopoulos, CEO, Matternet
