Samsung Expressed Its Commitment To Recycle Many Rare Metals From The Recalled Galaxy Note 7 Devices

Samsung already expressed its commitment to recycle as many rare metals as possible from the recalled Galaxy Note 7 devices, while some units will sell as refurbished phones. Today, the tech giant announced that it will remove and reuse

key reusable components such as OLED display modules, memory chips, and camera modules through eco-friendly processing methods and use it for repairs and the remaining parts will be sold starting this month.

By doing that, Samsung will partner with domestic and foreign companies to extract and recycle about 157 tons of gold, silver, nickel, cobalt, and copper from the phone.

The company sold around 3 million Galaxy Note 7 units and used more than 200,000 of devices for testing purposes while investigating the battery fire incidents. Since around 400,000 units will be sold in South Korea and maybe a few hundreds in other regions, a lot more will go through the recycle process.
