Developers Can Now Download, Install, And Test Windows 10 S On Their Machines

Microsoft has started looking for developers who might be interested in their Chrome OS alternative offering which was released in the month of May at BUILD 2017. Now, the company has released the first Windows 10 S ISO files to give a detailed insight to the developers.

The ISO files are, however, released for a limited set of people who have the pricey yearly subscription of MSDN (Microsoft Developer Network) account. Forget about the general users, the ISOs are not even available to the MSDN monthly subscribers and Windows Insiders.
So, if you have intentions to try and test Microsoft’s new operating system, the only way possible is to purchase a Windows 10 S device or get an MSDN subscription.
“We’re releasing [Windows 10 S] today to developers because we want to be sure they are testing Windows 10 S. We especially want EDU-focused developers to continue to innovate and make apps that teachers and students would use from the Windows Store,” said a Microsoft statement obtained by Thurrott.
Furthermore, Windows 10 S will be pushed to Microsoft’s education customers next week via an Upgrade Assistant tool.
For those who don’t know, Windows 10 S is the eduction-focused spin-off of Window 10 Pro, aimed at academic institutions and students.
The operating system can only run apps that are available on Windows Store. Until the end of this year, Microsoft will allow Windows 10 S users to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro for free; a $49 fee would be charged after that. Read more about the difference between Windows 10 and Windows 10 S is our detailed post.
