Nintendo Switch's Online Service Is Free Until 2018

Nintendo won't charge for access to the Switch's online capabilities until next year, when the actual online gaming service launches. For now, online

competitive and co-op multiplayer features are free. You'll have to spend $20 per year when the online services arrives in 2018.

The Switch's online service was supposed to go live this year. A "free, limited version" of online lobbies and voice chat will be available sometime this summer, but a full rollout isn't taking place in 2017.

You'll also be able to get online service for $4 per month or $8 for three months.
