Oracle has announced the release of Oracle Linux 6.9. It’s the final update release of Oracle Linux 6 and it ships with Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel and Red Hat Compatible Kernel. The notable feature additions of Oracle Linux 6.9 are TLS 1.2 support, availability of cpuid utility, etc. The interested users can download the ISO files from Oracle Software Delivery Cloud.
racle has announced the general availability of Oracle Linux 6 Update 9, which is the ninth final update release for Oracle Linux 6. Oracle Linux 6.9 is based on the just released Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6.9. This release has arrived ten months after the release of Oracle Linux 6.8.
Oracle Linux 6.9 new features and fixes
Oracle Linux 6.9 ships with Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel (UEK) Release 4 for x86-64, Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel (UEK) Release 2 for i386, and Red Hat Compatible Kernel for i386 and x86-64.
Oracle Linux 6.9 fixes a regression from past release that caused Oracle Database to fail in some conditions. Oracle also advises the users of other Linux distros with Oracle Database to contact their vendor and ask for a patch.
As Oracle Linux maintains user space compatibility with RHEL, the existing applications will continue to run unmodified. It means that the applications which are already certified with RHEL 6 or Oracle Linux 6 won’t face any issues.
