> A 56-year-old prophet Taiwo Oluboyode has impregnated his 16-year-old daughter in Odode, Idanre area of Ondo state.
Vanguard reports that the teenager is carrying a 7-month-old pregnancy for her father who owns a white garment church at Oke-Ijebu street, Odode, Idanre. Although the prophet who is already in police custody said it was the works of the devil, people who know the cleric very well said he must have carried out the abominable act “to renew his spiritual power.”
Reports reveal that the prophet is a very popular man with high traffic of miracle-seeking worshippers from far and near on a regular basis in his church. He is said to always bath women in streams for many spiritual purposes.
The cleric is said to live alone with his daughter after the wife left him years back. The prophet was also said to have aborted all efforts by the estranged wife to take their daughter along with her. He had insisted on having the girl around so as to have someone who will run errands for him.
A family source hinted that the suspect had refused to remarry after the wife left and had preferred sleeping with his daughter instead. It was unclear if the victim raised any alarm over her defilement by her father, but neighbours said that the girl was always keeping to herself.
The girl however stopped going to school when it was becoming obvious that she's pregnant. When her school friends came to ask about her whereabouts, the father told them she had traveled to Lagos to further her education. He however warned the girl to stay indoor always to avoid neighbours and church members from knowing she's pregnant. This was after he gave her a concoction to terminate the pregnancy and it failed.
The cleric, according to a source, contemplated smuggling the victim out of the house to a private clinic, but she refused and threatened to raise alarm. It was revealed that one of the neighbours, who saw the girl with a protruding stomach, raised the alarm.
Police laid ambush and arrested the cleric when he returned home. The church is presently locked with members and other leaders gone underground over fear of arrest.
