JTF discovers Benue militant leader’s armoury

MAKURDI—The Joint Military and Police Security Task Force in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State, yesterday, recovered 10 cartons of high calibre explosives, rocket launchers and hundreds of live ammunition from Gbishe, the country home of wanted militia leader, Terwase Agwaza, alias Gana.
Also recovered from Gbishe was a power motorbike belonging to Agwaza, military uniforms and helmet, handsets and two sacks of weeds, suspected to be Indian hemp.

While displaying the recovered items, Governor Samuel Ortom said security agents were closing in on the wanted man, noting that the militia leader, who had masterminded the abduction and killing of innocent citizens, will not know peace until he surrendered to the police.
According to Governor Ortom, “security agencies will continue to use the stick approach of the amnesty programme to fish out criminals in Benue State and I can assure you that Terwase Agwaza will have no hiding place.
“That is why I am warning anyone shielding him to stop doing so because security agencies will not spare such a person. You can see that the power bike and the explosives we recovered can destroy a bridge; we are closing down on him.”
The governor commended the Army, Civil Defence, the Department of State Services, DSS, and other security agencies for their efforts to apprehend the wanted man.
