Niger Delta youths mark world peace day with #WakaForPeace

The Coalition of Niger Delta Youth Leaders will join the rest of the world to observe The International Day Of Peace with the Niger Delta Peace Walk tagged #WakaForPeace scheduled for Monday, October 3, 2016 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Organized in conjunction with Edizwine Bar, the peace walk also features a freedom concert that will parade top talents and entertainers from the oil rich Niger Delta region of Nigeria.
The International Day of Peace, also known as Peace Day which holds across the world today on September 21 was brought into being by United Nations Resolutions in 1981 and 2001. Each year, hundreds of students take part in a student observance of Peace Day at the United Nations which includes Messengers of Peace.
According to Okolie Edwin Chibuzor, Chairman, Project Committee, #WakaForPeace, adequate arrangements has been made with security agents and ambulance to ensure a hitch-free procession around the metropolis. He noted that the calls for the reign of peace in the Niger Delta has come at no better time than now.
The youth leader said, “The Niger delta peace walk project is our own way of adding our voice to preaching peace in Nigeria and particularly, the Niger Delta region. We all know that today marks the International Peace Day all over the world. And we use the same opportunity to call for peace in the Niger Delta region and Nigeria at large.

Okolie added, “May we all embrace peace and unity to enable us to fight recession in Nigeria. We also want to use the medium to encourage the government of the day to embrace dialogue in her quest to bringing peace to the Niger Delta Region.

Almost 10 years since  the financial crisis , the banking industry has not completely recovered, BCG said in an industry report. North American banks accounted for  nearly  63 per cent of the total fines, or about 204 billion dollars, during 2009-2016, the consultancy firm said. While US regulators have been more effective in imposing penalties and recovering fines from the banks, their counterparts in Europe and Asia are likely to step up pace, according to the BCG report.
